Protein loops on structural similar scaffold
Loops with variable sequences and structures on structurally similar protein scaffold are common in Protein Data Bank. This page provides a loop family database which is built by searching the FSSP and PDB.

Every loop family in this database contains sequentially variable loops rooting on well-superimposed regular secondary structures. Because this database is based on the searching of all PDB entries. Therefore it gives much information of structural diversity of loops in homologous protein families. However, this kind of information are always excluded by the previous studies based on a non-redundant PDB set.

The structural features and sequential patterns are examined in each family. The loops are clustered into conformational sub-families by average linkage cluster analysis method. The motivation of this database is to provide the structural diversity information of each loop family and some relationship between structure of loop and its sequence. I hope this database may give helpful suggestion to loop modelling.

Note: This is the first release of the database. Some part of it is still under construction. And regular update is planned. So modification of this page may take place later, and new data will be added.
